About the role

As a Youth Worker, you'll be responsible for delivering hands-on care and guidance to improve the well-being of children and/or young individuals associated with our Family Based Care services in the WollongongIllawarra and Shoalhaven regions.

To excel in this role, we seek an individual who brings enthusiasm, a strong commitment to safety, and genuine, caring, and sensitive interactions with the children and young people we serve.

These roles are available on a Casual basis and will require flexibility to work across a range of shifts including morning, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work within a team to deliver quality services for children and young people who are living in a family-based care setting.
  • Mentoring children and young people
  • Transportation for children and young people to appointments or to and from school
  • Supervising contact visits for children and young people with their families
  • Alternate care arrangement shifts, either full day or sleepover shifts in a residential environment
  • Develop individual, therapeutic, recreational, or skills-development activities that are consistent with and supportive of the care plans developed for each child.

Skills & Experience

  • Either hold and maintain; or be actively working towards a Certificate IV in Child, Youth, and Family Intervention, or similar.
  • Current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) and Provide CPR (HLTAID009) certificate/s
  • Current drivers licence and fully insured vehicle.
  • A strong understanding of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Trauma Informed Practice.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Commitment to improving the quality of life, skills and independence of children and young people Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and a Working with Children Check.
