About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker, you will be providing person-centred active support to people living with disability on the Central Coast. Supported Independent Living (SIL) is supporting people with disability in shared housing or in their own home, providing various supports including personal care and daily living assistance. You can expect to work across a 24/7 roster.

We support people across the entire Central Coast, from Green Point in the south, to Jilliby in the west, Halekulani in the north, and The Entrance in the east.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support for clients facing behaviours of concern and complex needs with the ability to remain calm and supportive during unpredictable situations utilising de-escalation techniques
  • Availability for sleepover shifts is essential
  • Implement person-centred active support and behaviour support plans, advocating for client choice and participation in care and decision-making while ensuring safety and compliance in all interaction
  • Work with clients who require assistance with personal care tasks, such as bathing and dressing, as well as manual handling to ensure safe mobility
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records to track and document the changing needs of clients, ensuring thorough communication and continuity of care

Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting clients who display high behaviours and behaviours of concern
  • An unrestricted New South Wales driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Demonstrated ability to use basic technology and software on a mobile and desktop
  • A current First Aid Certificate, which includes the course HLTAID003 or HLTAID011

Successful candidates will be required to clear all state-based probity checks; including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
